This industry is mainly focused on the production of nitrogenous fetilisers, Phosphatic fertilisers, Ammonium phosphate and complex fertlisers which have a combination of Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potassium. However India Imports Potassium as it does not have any reserves or usable form of the material.
Fertiliser industry plays a big role in the well being of India as it contributes a lot to the agriculture which in turn takes up a large portion of our vastly growing economy.Â
As of now the indian fertiliser market has high value of INR 895 billion with Gujarat being the largest producer of fertilisers.
Like many other industries, the fertiliser industry largely expanded after the Green Revolution. The expansion spread and developed the industry to several parts of the country such as Gujarat, Tamil nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Kerala that contribute to more than half of the fertiliser production.
